Feedback - Automobile Club

On February 6th, 2009, People interested in the ESU Bordeaux joined us for a dinner at l'Automobile Club and some of us then went on a guided tour at Sud Ouest printing center...
Here is what Sarah Bichot - a freelance translator who has recently become a member wrote about this evening:

"The first official meeting of the ESU Bordeaux took place on Friday, 6th February, at the Automobile Club in the centre of the city.
Participants were welcomed by the new branch’s chairman, Florence Cartigny, and secretary, Alice Robert-Gillet.
The potential new members enjoyed an excellent dinner in a most convivial atmosphere.
Conversation at both tables was lively, with exchanges on a wide range of topics.

As Ms Cartigny said in her after-dinner presentation, the evening had fully reflected the goals of the English Speaking Union – to encourage understanding and friendship between people from different cultural backgrounds.
She outlined the activities planned by the Bordeaux section. These include an Irish evening to celebrate St Patrick’s Day, a viewing of the Canadian film ‘My Winnipeg’ followed by a talk by Ms Cartigny, a summer party with guest speaker(s), and, most importantly, the official launch of the ESU Bordeaux on 30/31 May.

All those present received a copy of the ESU brochure and newsletter, together with a welcome letter from the Bordeaux president and application form for membership.

The evening continued with a fascinating guided visit of the printing centre of the ‘Sud Ouest’ newspaper. "
Thank you very much to all of you for coming!
